Pye Electrical’s journey began 30 years ago when electrician Alan Pye and his business partner formed Pye and Moran Limited, a partnership that was to last 20 years. Originally based in Antigua Street, Christchurch, the business took on a distinctly family flavour when Alan’s son Ricky was taken on as an electrical apprentice in 1984.
In the earlier years the business was mainly involved with bakery installation and maintenance work for businesses such as Ernest Adams, as well as shoe factory work and industrial servicing.
As Pye and Moran’s reputation grew, so did their range of domestic and commercial electrical services. Large retail shop fit-outs for Glassons and Hallensteins stores throughout New Zealand together with an ever-increasing demand for residential alterations and rental maintenance kept the team of three tradesmen and their young apprentice busy.
Inevitably, the business outgrew the existing workshop, and in November 1999 the team relocated to the current premises in St Asaph Street. At the same time Alan decided to retire, and Ricky and Jackie took the opportunity to purchase the business, changing the name to Pye Electrical Limited in the process.
In 2000 Ricky took on his first apprentice, and as the jobs kept coming in, gradually expanded to a team which now includes four tradesmen and two apprentices.
With our friendly capable staff, a well-equipped workshop and five vans on the road we look forward to continuing to serve our customers well for many years to come.
